Lettre à Jade

On this morning in March 2022, Jade is in a bad mood. Vaccinated against the Sars-Cov-2 virus, she does not understand how she could have contracted this virus and comes to wonder if this vaccine is very effective and if she was not wrong to promote its virtues to of his friends.
Tâm her father suggests that she take the time to understand how vaccination is a key element in the fight against this virus and explains to her why, despite having been vaccinated, she caught this damn virus.

Diffusons la Science

Faced with the COVID19 epidemic, the contribution of the scientific community is essential to inform the general public. A team of researchers led by Tâm Mignot, CNRS research director and director of the LCB, accompanied by Yann Vacher, professor at the University of Corsica in Educational Sciences, launched during the first confinement, a web-series : Diffusonslascience in order to give a voice to scientists and to make accessible reliable data on this health crisis through a series of questions. Each video is accompanied by a more detailed article indicating all the sources used for the production of the episode in question. Four themes broken down into several episodes each:
  • Theme 1: Epidemiology of infection, models and data around the world
  • Theme 2: Biology of infection, virulence mechanisms
  • Theme 3: Immunity mechanisms and therapeutic strategies
  • Theme 4: Decryption of the info

#Protégeons-nos-soignants

Protect our health professionals by mapping their needs

The LCB on the solidarity front. #Protégeons-nos-soignants is a unique web platform that has facilitated interactions between those able to donate or produce personal protective equipment – masks, gowns, gloves, protective goggles, etc. – to medical personnel and carers who needed it in times of shortages. This platform was launched by Axel Magalon1, CNRS research director at the LCB, during the first so-called COVID-19 wave in April 2020. Together with Andrew Saurin, CNRS researcher at the Developmental Biology Institute of Marseille and Pierre-Xavier Maziani, doctor in microbiology, a team of researchers, professors, engineers and PhD students was involved in the project.

Les Chemins de la Découverte

For the 80th anniversary of the CNRS, research was revealed through an exhibition: “Les Chemins de la Découverte”.
How are scientific discoveries made? How does basic research work?
It is through Art that researchers from the LCB have chosen to illustrate their research and their daily lives, with a pinch of microbiology, a touch of fantasy and a touch of irony.

Through an interactive exhibition, visitors followed step by step the progress of a scientific discovery.
An exhibition that was accessible to all, to slip into the skin of researchers for a few moments.

Vernissage: November 8, 2019 at 4 p.m.

General public opening / entertainment: November 12, 15 and 18, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
